Dr. S.K. Maini is the founder of the Maini Group of industries and over the years has been recognized for his achievements in India and abroad. He was the first Indian to take over MICO-BOSCH factory’s production management from a German Executive in 1968.
The Loughborough University honored him with a 'Doctorate in Technology' for his contribution to various industries in India in 2006. He was also honored ‘Instrumentation Society of India (ISOI) Award' in recognition of his contribution to the development of environment-friendly automotive equipment and leadership in building institutions. Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University conferred the 'Distinguished Alumnus Award' in recognition of Dr. S.K. Maini’s Epoch Making Contribution to the Field of Propagation of Mahamana’s Ideals in 2009.
Associates of IT-BHU Alumni, Delhi conferred the 'IT-BHU Alumni Life Time Achievement Award' in 2009. Dr. S.K. Maini is the Patron of Indian Institution of Production Engineers (India), Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), and Fellow of Institution of Electrical Engineers (UK). He was awarded the ‘Distinguished Fellowship of the Institute of Directors’ in 2004.
Improving the environment and improving the living conditions of Bangalore, helping rural upliftment including education in villages and inculcating values amongst the urban youth are his major interests.
Maini Samaj Kalyan Kendra, an endevour by Dr. S.K. Maini, has concentrated on building schools in the Lakkenahalli village, and Govenahalli, Bangalore and is currently organizing cleaning of children’s parks in Bangalore.
Dr. Maini is the Managing Trustee of Gramothan Foundation with an objective to improve the quality of life for the poor in rural India. The major emphasis while improving the quality of life will be through the involvement of the villagers themselves. Gramothan Foundation has chosen 20 Villages of D.B.Kuppe Grama Panchayat, Machur Sub- Cluster, H.D.Kote Taluk, Mysore District. These are most backward villages inhabited by tribal people.
Dr. S.K. Maini is the Managing Trustee for the Malaviya Ji Trust, he has also co-authored a Coffee Table Book ‘Visionary of Modern India – Madan Mohan Malaviya’ which was released by the former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh at the 150th Birth Anniversary of Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji, the founder of Banaras Hindu University in the year 2012.
Dr. S.K. Maini is also a member of the Advisory Board of ICREATE – an organization for propagating Innovation and Technology. An avid writer, He has co-authored a coffee table book ‘Reva – India’s Green Gift to the World’.
A firm believer of Indian ethos, values, culture and traditions, Dr. Maini is deeply interested in human resource development, entrepreneurship, quality, productivity, technology and innovation, environment, competitive manufacturing and management education. He is passionately involved in bringing value education amongst professionals and upliftment of his city -Bangalore.
